THE ART OF MARIA VICTORIA WALKER (Lila Brochá)
ABOUT VICKY
Lila Brochá—meaning “purple brush”—is the artistic identity of Maria Victoria Walker, a mixed media artist whose work explores storytelling through color, texture, and layered composition. Her paintings, often whimsical and vibrant, reflect personal memory, emotion, and transformation, offering viewers a visual meditation on nature, movement, and the rhythms of urban life. Each piece invites curiosity and introspection, encouraging connection through pattern, form, and feeling.
Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Maria Victoria immigrated to the United States in 1989. While building a successful career in both finance and data architecture—and raising a family—she painted in the margins of her day-to-day life, developing her artistic voice as a self-taught creative.
In 2021, after retiring from the corporate world, she stepped more fully into her role as an artist and began actively engaging with the arts community in Wisconsin.
She joined SAGE Green Bay in 2021 and became a member of the Green Bay Art Colony in 2022. In 2024, she joined The Hardy Gallery as an Artistic Member. Her mixed media works have been exhibited widely across the state, including juried exhibitions at the Neville Public Museum, John Michael Kohler Art Center, Rahr West Art Museum and The Hardy Gallery.
