Denise Johnson

Denise has been creating for decades, but curiosity still seems to be at the heart of what she does.

She has explored different materials and techniques throughout her creative life, with alcohol inks becoming an especially important part of her work. Their movement, intense color and unpredictability allow her to respond to what's happening rather than always knowing where a piece will end.

Nature, animals and everyday moments find their way into her work, but so do humor, imagination and the simple pleasure of making something.

For Denise, creating seems to be as much about discovery as the finished artwork.
