Brian Taylor · Fine Art Photographer

Where Light, Land & Emotion Meet

Sometimes the most remarkable moments are the ones we almost walk past.

Brian Taylor photographs familiar landscapes at uncommon moments—when light, weather and atmosphere allow us to experience them differently.

Moments Worth Noticing

A landscape can change in minutes. Brian captures the moments that

make us stop and look a little longer.

Meet the Photographer

Brian Taylor

Brian's photography is about more than documenting a place. He looks for atmosphere, light and those fleeting conditions that give a landscape its emotional character.

His work invites us into the quiet waters, shorelines, forests and changing skies of Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest—and gives us a reason to linger.

The Moment Before the Photograph

What Made Brian Stop?

“What initially stopped me was this persistent little tree finding a way to grow right out of the rocks. I noticed how its shape was almost a mirror image of the larger island of trees sitting in the background, and I knew I wanted to compose a shot where those two elements could play off each other.

It actually took a few visits to get it right. The scene was usually too busy, so I had to wait for the exact right conditions—specifically, a layer of fog to roll in and soft-focus the background. That natural separation finally allowed the little tree to stand out without all the surrounding distraction.”
